John O’Brien is a Managing Director at DiFilippo Corporate Finance Group, LLC. John specializes in the valuation of equity securities, including common stock and preferred stock, derivative instruments, intangible assets, and debt securities, having performed these valuations for mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, tax and joint ventures and corporate financings. John specializes in the valuation of equity securities of privately-held companies. He has valued enterprises with revenues ranging from pre-revenue to billions of dollars. He specializes in dealing with entities with complex capital structures. John has also performed numerous valuations for ASC 805-10 purchase price allocations, measuring the effects of synergies/dissynergies, carve-out transactions, and valuation of product lines.
Prior to joining the DiFilippo Corporate Finance Group, John was the Director of Valuations for a regional CPA firm where he was responsible for the management of the overall practice in addition to his duties of performing business valuations. Prior to his career in business valuation, John had a successful corporate finance career as the Chief Financial Officer of businesses ranging from heavy construction to money management. John has worked as a senior corporate finance executive with companies ranging from early stage of development to mature enterprises in turnaround situations. John began his corporate finance career working in Fidelity Investments venture capital group.
In the late 1980’s, prior to his corporate finance career, John spent three years managing submarine sandwich shop. He went on to own and operate it for two years before successfully selling his interest to his business partner. Later in his career, he started and owned a pizza and submarine sandwich shop before returning to corporate finance.
